Also known as an investment mortgage, a Buy to Let mortgage is designed for borrowers who want to buy a property to let out to a third party (e.g. tenants).

Lenders will assess the buy-to-let mortgage on the earning potential of the property, the rental income. The rent needs to be around 125% of the mortgage payment on an interest only basis.
